I think that we mostly have relied on the api manual from MIT. But
that isn't a good tutorial, and even as a reference it has it's
shortcomings (for one thing it's buggy). I think we should probably
try to write some api documentation of our own. There is a programming
section in the manual, but it's rather brief.
