My own installation of heimdal say:
# krb5-config --libs gssapi
-L/usr/heimdal/lib -lgssapi -lkrb5 -lasn1 -L/usr/local/openssl/lib -lcrypto -lroken -L/usr/local/lib -L/software/@sys/usr/lib -L/usr/local/openssl/lib -L/usr/lib
# ftp --version
ftp (Heimdal 20030916)

With Debian packages I get:
# krb5-config --libs gssapi
-L/usr/lib -lgssapi
# ftp --version
ftp (Heimdal 0.5.2, KTH-KRB 1.2.1)
