Nevermid, I found the --version-script option, read up on it, tried it,
tested it and I'm gold now.

Thanks so much for the clue Brian. Symbol versioning is PERFECT for my
problem. I didn't need to use it with Heimdal. I used it with the big
.so I mentioned to export the 15 symbols used by the PHP module and that
was it.
