- Description: As there is almost no space available under the long hood where the decoder will be located, the light bulbs have to be replaced something smaller. I used a surface mounted LED. First I soldered the LED on top of the 1000KOhm surface mounted resistor. Then I soldered the sandwich to the metal strip like shown here. I chose the short hood to experiment first because there is more room for error should I have messed up.
